RAISED POLISH

Raised Polish engraving leaves the letters and designs polished, and the background is removed. This technique works especially well on very dark stones.

COMBINATIONS

Very often we combine engraving techniques. Surnames can be raised polish, with the remainder carved in polish. The names and dates can be in frosted panels, with the epitaphs carved in polish.

FLAMED & SAWN SURFACES

Other interesting methods for surfacing memorials are "Flamed" and "Sawn", which leaves the stone with a more natural look.
